FoundationOur club was founded in Düsseldorf in 1912
From the outset, the Industrie-Club saw itself as a meeting place for intellectual exchange between leading figures in the region it serves along the Rhine and Ruhr.
It was conceived as a forum for economics and science, for political and cultural life. Wilhelm Marx, our first President and Lord Mayor of the up-and-coming metropolis of Düsseldorf, referred in his inauguration speech to the Industrie-Club as a "place of recuperation for those battling away at the humming loom of our time".
